Racing a car is very dangerous even on a closed circuit with safety equipment. Being more concerned about waving to your buddy in the next car than the safety of the people around you is ridiculously irresponsible.

He wasn’t waving to his buddy. He was trying to warn them to slow down. The active flag stations, hill in the track, cars to either side of the camera car and the location of the stopped cars all made this accident unavoidable. I feel bad for the driver being accused of carelessness.

If it was unavoidable, all the others cars would have crashed too. Somehow they managed to put their brakes on in time. Perhaps it was as you say, and that what he was doing was warning the other drivers through a blacked-out window (what the hell?). Do we label this “the road to Hell is paved with good intentions”? Or maybe “no good deed goes unpunished”? Or “nice guys finish last”? I’m going to stick with “you suck at racing”.

That looked like waving to the black car to me. I can see the parking lot ahead of him in the video about three seconds before he notices it. He was looking out the side window and still full throttle long after the white car to the left was hard on the brakes, probably because the driver of the white car was looking out his windshield at what was going on ahead of him instead of looking out the side window and waving at his buddy. I feel bad for the teams of the three cars that he ran in to because he wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing, and for the rest of his own team, who then got to fix the car instead of racing it.

There is a station at 0:15(no reason for that corner worker to flag anything) ,and one at 0:27,no flag waving there, how’s that possible??!?!?!(smh)
I wouldn’t say the accident was caused(entirely) by the driver waiving. Reminds me of the accident at Nurburgring in November 2017
